Living with GAD
Let's talk about GAD (generalized anxiety disorder).
I was diagnosed with GAD at a young age. I remember one of my 1st panic attacks. I must have been 12 or 13 years old at the time. Since then I've been medicated off and on. Medications never never fully made me feel normal in in fact they made me feel out of control and hopeless among many other feelings. As the years passed and the doctors come and go I still suffer from GAD.
Generalized anxiety is not the same as as normal anxiety. What others may see as stressed out or on edge is really A GAD patient trying trying to fit in.
Actually, Only 3% of all people with generalized anxiety disorders seek help.
The fear of people judging is a major factor. I get it I understand and that's why I'm writing this blog. In hopes that it will help someone who thinks their in this alone. I'm 36 years old now and I feel I have the right to #SpeakUp about living with GAD for the last 20+ years.
